Job Description

The Product Manager (PM) is responsible first and foremost for the “what and why” of any initiative/feature/change that is being implemented for a product. The PM must fundamentally understand the market, the business case and value, and user needs related to a development item and define the scope and acceptance criteria of development items.  Often, this means defining a vision and set of high-level requirements and negotiating with engineers in terms of whether a proposed design meets business needs and timeframes.  Ultimately the PM is responsible for the success of a feature in terms of its intended goals whether those include revenue, functional objectives, user appeal, etc.  That role requires the PM to weigh various options and outcomes to achieve the best overall outcome and often requires negotiation and tradeoffs.

While engaged with development execution based on roadmap or other initiatives for a given product line, the Product Manager must represent the goals and business needs of any development initiative and therefore be abreast of customer and needs.  This role requires the Product Manager to plan a strategy with the Tech Lead in terms of scoping and executing a feature or product project. The Product Manager is ultimately responsible for product functionality and usability and driving a cross-functional team able to deliver high-quality products that meet the needs of the market.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and concept development to launch and post-launch optimization.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities.
  • Define and articulate a clear product vision and strategy, encompassing short-term objectives and long-term goals, and communicate it effectively across the organization, serving as the subject matter expertise of the industry and product.
  • Recognize the expertise of engineering teams in solutioning and empower them to drive the technical implementation, fostering a culture where product managers provide guidance on objectives but leave the technical details to the engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias for action and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and tackle challenges head-on.
  • Thrive in ambiguous situations and demonstrate resilience in the face of uncertainty, adapting quickly to changing priorities and evolving market conditions.
  • Work rapidly and efficiently without needing constant guidance from leadership, taking initiative to drive projects forward and meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of business strategy, including revenue models, market positioning, and competitive landscape.
  • Champion a culture of rapid iteration and experimentation using a customer-centric approach to product development, advocating for the best interests of users while balancing business priorities and technical constraints, with a strong understanding of UX principles and best practices.
  • Understand the pros and cons between multiple ideas and advocate for the one you believe in.
  • Have the courage to make mistakes – and learn from them.

Skills/Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or related field preferred, with 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ Years of Product Management Experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience writing User Stories and Acceptance Criteria.
  • Experience developing and performing product discovery process, including working directly with customers.
  • Ability to work within an Agile environment.
  • Experience creating Product Positioning statements and developing go to market plans.
  • Insurance/Healthcare knowledge preferred.
  • Experience managing others preferred.
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentational skills.
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.
  • Experience using issue tracking tools to manage the release process (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to client sites from time to time (5-10%).
  • Experience working on SaaS product is preferred.

Applicants for employment in the US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States.
