Making Good Agents Great: E&O & Disaster Preparedness

How are you protecting yourself?

There are two major parts of protection that we’ll be discussing today: moral liability and legal liability.

Moral liability.

Moral liability is the protective nature you feel to keep your clients’ personal information
safe and secure. Protecting your clients’ data is crucial for the longevity of your career. If you don’t have a recovery plan in place for a potential disaster, then it’s something you should seriously consider documenting a plan for now. Your clients are trusting you with their most sensitive information; you should be doing everything in your power to protect them.

Legal liability.

Legal liability is the protection of yourself and your trade. One of the most important legal protections you can have is Errors and Omissions (E&O) Insurance. Hopefully you’ll never have to use your E&O, but if you do, you’ll want to assured that it’s updated and ready to go. If a lawsuit arises and you need to protect your company, E&O insurance is one thing that can help bring you peace of mind.

Disaster Preparedness

A disaster doesn’t just mean a tornado or hurricane moves through and wipes out your office. A disaster can strike in the form of computer viruses, hardware failure, and even human mistakes. A computer crash is just as powerful as a wildfire at destroying your data. AgencyBloc can help protect you and your book-of-business by constantly backing up your data onto secure servers that won’t be affected if your office is destroyed by nature and won’t fall victim to theft or hardware failure. To learn more about how AgencyBloc helps keep your data safe, check out AgencyBloc’s Security page.

Plus, AgencyBloc is also a cloud-based system, which means you can work from any device (computer, phone, tablet) from any location with an internet connection. That means, if you do experience a tragedy, you’ll still be able to serve your clients and keep your practice running since you’ll be able to access your data remotely.

Managing Your E&O

You know that E&O Insurance is essential for being an insurance sales agent, but having it is only the half of it. Using AgencyBloc, you can prepare yourself and do more to protect yourself. By utilizing the notes and attachments feature in your AgencyBloc system, you can keep detailed records of all of your client communications. These notes are saved directly with the client’s records within the system so you can easily access them at any time and bring them up during any future conversation.

Also, AgencyBloc helps to keep your E&O documentation up-to-date. Our Automated Workflow feature allows you to setup automated emails or tasks that are triggered by your E&O expiration date. You can then set the reminders to be sent to you 6 months, 3 months, and 1 month out (or whatever works for your schedule) so that you can rest assured that you aren’t letting it lapse.

Are you prepared?

If you’re not sure what your disaster recovery plans are, then consider taking some time and putting one together.
