Gary is the newest addition to our awesome team here at AgencyBloc. He is already helping numerous clients find success with AgencyBloc, and he also brings some mean competition in ping pong. Here's what Gary has to say about company culture:
When I say culture, what do you think of?
A culture is about the “little things” within a group that may not be readily seen during an initial interaction from someone new. It is all the intangibles that develop between the people or group over time and how those interactions shape the group, even unknowingly at times.
What does a company’s work culture entail?
Everything. From work schedules, employees, bosses, office space, job duties and such. Then add all of the interactions during, and along with, the people and events which create and shape the culture of the company.
What does a good work culture mean to you?
A good work culture will develop a feeling of inclusion—not only for the work tasks, but a sense of importance within the group or work setting. Everyone will feel included as a valued participant within the work setting
What has always been important to you when job-hunting?
Early in my work career it was pay first, job duties second. At this stage of my career, I like a smaller company setting and the flexibility of the company to work with its employees. I really prefer a company that is small enough to understand its employees' needs that may not be related to work. Home vs. work are not always easy to separate these days for working families.
What is your favorite thing about going to work?
Feeling like I am wanted and not just needed. I have worked for companies where they make you feel like a number, only valued enough to get the job done. The best work feeling is that when you finish your job or task, you want to help out others and not just “do your own job and go home.” Feeling included. I get that feeling since working here at AgencyBloc.
What is the most memorable moment thus far that has happened at AB?
Having UNI basketball coach Ben Jacobson speak to our company. Being an alum and fan, it was exciting to have him speak to us.
So, what do you think?
