Reflecting on 2019 & Looking Forward to 2020
Every year, we like to look back on the past year to see where we've been and where we're heading, both personally and professionally.
Rybo Chen, Leadership Coach and contributing writer to Thrive Global, wrote an article, "Win your life by harnessing The Power Of Reflection." In it, he states:
"We are all learners, at any and every stage and role in life. We need to learn as students, learn as parents, learn as employees, learn as managers. The list goes on forever. One important thing is that reflection is the most important part of the learning process, and whatever is not reflected is usually not learned and retained. The only way for us to grow and improve is to take a good look at what’s working and what’s not for us."
This year, members of the AgencyBloc team reflected on proud moments from 2019, what they're most looking forward to in 2020, goals for 2020, and more.
Describe 2019 in one word.
"Fun! My daughter turned 2 in March, and while 2-3 is definitely a trying age, it's also SO much fun. Trying to soak it all in! Not to mention, the AgencyBloc team keeps growing and evolving and it's a lot of fun to be along for the ride."
"Happy. I love my job. I got married. All our kids are thriving."
"Fast. It went by in a flash. I keep looking back at stuff from early in the year thinking it just happened, but then realize that was nearly a year ago."
"Acceleration. We've continued to apply an impressive amount of effort towards developing new features and enhancements. At the same time we are laying the technical foundations that will allow us to accelerate growth in the future."
"Transformative. Lots of great and challenging things happened in both my professional and personal life that helped me grow, learn, and become a better person."
CTO & Co-founder
"Timewarp. There was so much going on this year - it really seems like it just started. But here we are, ready to close the books and move into 2020!"
What are you most proud of from 2019?
"I know this will sound cliche, but I'm most proud of the work and accomplishments of our team. I know we all take pride in seeing our efforts benefit our broader client community."
Chief Growth Officer
"Keeping our horses & family safe during the Polar Vortex. Hauling water & hay in -50 wind chills makes me think we can get through just about anything!"
"I went tandem skydiving, even though I'm deathly afraid of heights."
What was your favorite enhancement made to AgencyBloc in 2019?
"Lead forms has always been a favorite so I love that we have enhanced to allow for group and agent leads!"
"Calendar Activity View. Everyone consumes information in ways that are unique to them, and this enhancement allows our users to choose how they want to track, manage, and act on their daily activities."
"Do I have to choose just one!? One of my favorite things about working for AgencyBloc is that we listen to external (client) and internal (employee) feedback and work to continuously improve."
"The updates being able to merge agents and groups if duplicates are found. We've had the capabilities on the individual records, but now we've expanded it to include groups and agents and it is a huge time saver for both us and our agencies. "
"Merging records. Allowing our Users a way to quickly combine duplicate records has been a huge time saver for them. Prior, they had to review both records, manually move the data from one to another, then delete the bad record. Now all that is completed using the Merge feature. Love when we can save our clients time, and keep their data clean and efficient."
"I would say the Calendar feature. It lets you see what everyone is doing in a familiar calendar format by day, week, or month, so you can schedule your activities accordingly."
What are you most looking forward to in 2020?
Marketing Technology Specialist
"I'm most looking forward to my wedding in October!"
Quality Assurance Analyst
"Warm weather, Birkenstocks, golf league, and the sun going down at 9:00 pm instead of 4:55 pm."
"I believe 2020 will be a breakthrough year for AgencyBloc. If you put together the recommendations of the people that love us and the new functionality coming from the product team, our prospects and clients are going to have an awesome year!"
"To continue building out my role of Data Specialist to create the best experience possible for our clients!"
"We have a new grand baby on the way, number three. We are so very blessed!"
"Making improvements to our house. Can't wait to see how things turn out!"
"Going fishing. It was a busy 2019 for me - My wife and I moved, our daughter bought a house, and we sold my mother-in-law's house. Lots of projects! 2020 will be a year to relax a bit more. Enjoy the down time with entertaining activities."
Any New Year's resolutions for 2020?
"Disconnect. Find time to disconnect from technology & just be present in my day to day life."
"Building some Alexa skills. Mastering a few hillbilly/getaway music guitar songs. Upgrading & expanding my robot arsenal in the woodshop."
VP of Client Success
"I came across this definition of "Encourage" and I love it. Encourage: The act of giving others support, confidence, or hope. I hope I can do this more - whether it's encouraging my kids, my spouse, the Client Success team, or our clients. I want to be someone that encourages. "
"Keep pushing myself to do as difficult of enhancements to the system as I can."
"Finding plastic free, sustainable replacements for household items like paper towels, toothpaste, and plastic wrap until we don't have any single use plastic or paper products at home."
CTO & Co-founder
"Spend more time visiting with customers - virtually and in-person."
